Biodiversity and No Deforestation Commitment

Maintaining natural capital services helps enhance biodiversity, stabilize ecologically sensitive areas, and mitigate the impacts of climate change, while promoting the sustainable development of natural resources. HIWIN Technologies Corp. is committed to working alongside its subsidiaries, supply chain partners, and stakeholders to actively implement actions that are friendly to the natural environment. The company aims to achieve No Deforestation, No Net Loss of biodiversity, and a Net Positive Impact by 2050, continuously advancing toward a sustainable vision of living in harmony with nature.

Our Principles and Strategies

1. Follow the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) guidelines to regularly assess risks related to nature and biodiversity, and identify the dependencies and impacts of our operations on the natural world.

2. Based on the results of the risk assessments, identify priority issues and analyze the impact and risks of our sites on natural capital and biodiversity. Implement adaptive actions to achieve a net positive impact, and publicly disclose progress and outcomes.

3. Ensure that our operations and value chain activities avoid areas designated by local authorities as nature reserves, ecologically sensitive areas, key biodiversity habitats, and other regions important to biodiversity.

4. When operations or value chain activities result in adverse effects on biodiversity or ecosystems, adopt the “Avoidance, Minimization, Restoration, and Offset” approach to implement mitigation measures and reduce negative impacts.

5. Develop a biodiversity and natural resource monitoring mechanism. Based on monitoring outcomes, formulate conservation, habitat restoration, or natural capital maintenance plans, and regularly review and evaluate the effectiveness of such programs.

6. Actively reduce waste at source, implement circular economy principles, manage water resources, and adopt energy-saving and carbon-reduction measures at production sites. These efforts aim to achieve zero waste and resource regeneration, minimizing operational impact on natural capital services.

7. Continuously promote conservation awareness and encourage employees, suppliers, and partners to implement biodiversity protection and no deforestation actions.
