Sustainable Development Committee

To fulfill our ESG vision and mission, HIWIN has established the “ESG Committee,” comprised of senior executives from various departments. This committee is responsible for developing sustainable policies in the areas of economics, environment, and society, as well as planning and implementing relevant projects.

The ESG Committee is led by Global Chairman Eric Y.T. Chuo and Chairman & CEO Eddie W.H. Chuo, providing top-level guidance. President Enid H.C. Tsai serves as the Committee Chairperson. In addition, there are two Vice Chairpersons, seven Advisory Committee members, two Executive Secretaries, and eleven functional organizations within the ESG Committee. The ESG Committee formulates short, medium, and long-term goals, strategies, and action plans based on material topics related to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) aspects. Monthly meetings are held to monitor the progress and outcomes of each task, providing advisory guidance as needed. On August 13, 2022, HIWIN conducted an “ ESG Workshop “ to establish climate strategies and internal targets for reducing carbon emissions. The base year for these targets is 2021, and they apply to our manufacturing facilities in Taiwan. Our goal is to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from Scope 1 + Scope 2 by 30% by 2025, 50% by 2030, and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. The organizational team has reached a consensus to work towards achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. For more information on the key achievements of the ESG Committee in 2022, please refer to Chapter 1.3 - Achievements in Sustainability.
